Chevrolet had redesigned the Silverado 2500 HD for the 2011 model year and is a carryover model for 2012. This heavy-duty truck lineup is now broader than ever with ten 2500HD models. The 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD is available in Regular Cab, Extended Cab and Crew Cab body styles with short or long bed lengths and three trims levels - Work Truck, LT and LTZ.

Power and performance

A 360-horsepower Vortec 6.0-liter V8 engine coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission with tow/haul mode is standard. The new available Duramax 6.6L turbo diesel of the Silverado 2500 HD is rated at 397 hp and 765 lb.-ft. of torque and it gives up to 11-percent greater highway fuel economy and up to 63-percent lower emissions, along with B20 biodiesel capability and quicker acceleration. The available, legendary heavy-duty Allison six-speed transmission steps up the power of the Duramax engine. The towing capability is rated at 17,800 lbs while the payload capacity is 4,192 lbs supported by all-new frames and strong suspensions. The all-new smart exhaust brake system offers greater control and reduces brake pad wear. Control-related features, including trailer sway control, integrated trailer brake control, hill start assist, automatic grade braking and intelligent brake assist are some of the highlights of this redesigned truck. Body and styling

The 2012 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD takes on the Ford F-250 Super Duty and Dodge Ram in the market. The new Silverado 2500 HD are bigger, work harder and drive better than earlier models. One can store a number of things from work gloves to laptops in the compartments that provide covered access to these things. Mobile WiFi, USB connectivity, Bluetooth connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and a navigation system are also offered. This new work horse truck can be upgraded with navigation system, rearview camera and XM NavTraffic features. The LTZ offers heated, leather-appointed front bucket seats with dual-density foam while the Driver Information Center displays engine hours, fuel range, fuel used, transmission temperature and more. The dual glove boxes in WT and LT models provide nearly 9 liters of combined cargo space. There is room for up to three passengers in Regular Cab and up to six in Extended Cab and Crew Cab models.
