Overview
A benchmark of full-size SUVs, the 2011 Chevrolet is abundantly roomy, capable and more efficient than ever. It is available LS, LT and LTZ models, with 2WD and 4WD, as well as 1500 and heavy-duty 2500 series. Mocha Steel Metallic, Steel Green Metallic and Ice Blue Metallic are new exterior colors available for 2011. The Trailering package now includes integrated trailer brake controller. Twenty-inch chrome wheels are also available.
The Chevrolet Suburban made its debut way back in 1936 and remains an ideal choice for a full-size SUV. It is one of the longest-running models sold in the United States. The spacious Suburban is suitable for families or those in need of rock-hard truck-based towing capability and class-leading passenger and trunk capacity. It can accommodate nine passengers with third-row seating and comes in as many as 18 variations. The 2011 Chevrolet Suburban is offered in half-ton and heavy-duty three-quarter-ton models that come in base LS, midlevel LT (with subcategories ? 1LT and 2LT) and the top-grade LTZ (available only in half-ton model) trim levels.
Power and performance
Three engine types are offered on the 2011 Chevrolet Suburban: the standard 5.3-liter Vortec V8 engine produces 310 horsepower in half-ton models; a 6.0-liter V8 generates 366 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque is optional in half-ton versions; and the standard 6.0-liter Vortec V8 engine delivers 352 horsepower and 382 pound-feet of torque in three-quarter-ton models. A six-speed automatic gearbox is standard on all Suburban models. Buyers can choose either a two-wheel or four-wheel drive configuration.
Body and styling
The exterior look is chiseled featuring trendy grills and a more aerodynamic appearance. The 2011 Suburban gets side assist steps, a 40/20/40 split-folding front-row bench seat, full power accessories (including six-way driver seat), dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable heated outside mirrors, XM Radio, Bluetooth wireless technology for select compatible phones, a CD/MP3 player, a trip computer, body-color, body-side moldings, and rear seat air-conditioning as standard features.
The LT adds fog lamps, color-keyed exterior trim steering-wheel-mounted, rear seat audio controls and front bucket seats with a center console. A number of packages are available based on the trims.
Safety Features
Standard safety features include head curtain air bags, side curtain air bags, tire pressure monitor, anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, GM's StabiliTrak stability control system and several other features. Advanced steering and suspension allows the 2011 Suburban to avoid crashes more efficiently.
